Baked Custard with Pears

Serves 6

Ingredients
2 pears, thinly sliced
1⁄3 cup castor sugar
2 tsp custard powder
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 cups low-fat or skim milk, heated
ice cream to serve

Method
1. Arrange pear slices over the base of lightly greased 1cup ramekin dishes.

2. Combine sugar and custard powder in a bowl. Whisk in eggs and vanilla essence. Gradually stir in hot milk.

3. Pour egg mixture over pears.

4. Bake in a 150°C oven for 1 hour or until set.

5. Serve with ice cream.

You can also use sliced apple instead of pears and serve with thick vanilla yoghurt.
